This is my favorite. Brings out the cool tones in the taupe stucco, adds a punch of color, without distracting from the rest of the architecture.
How's that, for fancy pants?

Alas it's now gone, but the best local one (I think I've mentioned to you, but I may as well share with all yer readers) was outside Papa John('?)s('?) downtown (the Greek one, not the pizza chain), which read:

Lincoln's "GENUINE" Greek Restaurant.

Of all the words to put in quotes....

In the second grade catechism book that I am reformatting today I came across some information you might like to know:

"Saint Augustine was so fond of drinking and parties before his conversion that he is now the patron saint of brewers."

Can you bring some to M-town for Christmas??

How is that I ended up in the editorial position?

I just learned last night that Spanish has a verb that means "to gift"--not having to do with taxes.

Well, you can be sure I'll keep this post in mind when I have my red pen in hand.

I just used this word like fifteen minutes ago---in writing, not speech. I hear you, I think. Is there a difference in degree, though? Like giving somebody something doesn't quite have the same amount of ceremony as gifting it.

We need a single word that means "to give as a gift." Something like what "proffer" does to "offer"—add a kind of implied physicality to the act.

Airport security is even tighter in McCook where all three TSA employees always make it a point to unzip my checked luggage and, in front of the entire terminal, pull out items and inspect them as though they've never seen an object more foreign. I mean really, must you flip through every last page of a prayer book to ensure a bomb isn't slipped in there?
